Question asked

Resources through QRE ETF

I would value your opinion about the QRE ETF. Is is a good way to gain exposure to the resources sector? Judy

Answer

Hi Judy,

We do like the BetaShares Australian Resources ETF (QRE) as a vehicle to gain exposure to the Australian resources sector especially bearing in mind our overall bullish view towards the $A, driven by the likely widening interest rate differentials i.e. it makes sense to MM from a broad-brush perspective to invest locally across the thematic – we expect the ASX materials sector will continue to outperform its US peer as it has for the last couple of months.

  • However, as we said in Friday’s ETF report a period of consolidation wouldn’t surprise us after its surged ~40% since April.

At this stage we would call the QRE as an “accumulate” but the simple answer to your question is yes, we do like the ETF as an efficient way of gaining exposure to ASX resource stocks.
