Where to go next

Hi Guys, I'm considering where to invest next post the Gold Road (GOR) takeover. What gold miner would the next one to look at if possible OR where else to diversify, these funds OR into an ETF? if not all good cheers Paul M PS Enjoy your commentary all the time cheers again

Answer

Hi Paul,

Congratulations on Gold Road (GOR): South Africa’s Gold Fields acquired Australia’s Gold Road Resources for $3.7 billion to gain full control of the Gruyere gold mine, following an improved offer that addressed initial valuation concerns. Interestingly GOR is still trading slightly above the $3.40 bid price.

Moving forward we are comfortable, albeit just, watching gold over the coming weeks/months – we recently took profit on our Evolution (EVN) position for our Active Growth Portfolio. As we discussed on Wednesday, we might go big next time we venture into the gold space with Newmont (NEM) catching out attention.

  • We currently like NEM ~$115 but this level is fluid.

In the smaller space, we like Ora Banda Mining (OBM) – well worth a look as they ramp up operations with FY26 being a key year for them. If they meet/beat FY26 guidance of 140,000–155,000 oz, it should prove to be a major inflection point.
