Dear MM, Your morning report (3rd June) discussed Gold, Copper and Uranium. I was wondering what your thoughts were regarding silver. Adriatic Metals (ADT) has just received an offer, and other than S32 and BHP, the other silver focused companies are micro caps. These include Sun Silver (SS1) and Andean Silver (ASL). Do you have views on either of these two or are they currently too small. Many thanks Mark

We have been asked about a silver a few times through 2024/5 and its a tough area to gain exposure, the stocks you mentioned Sun Silver (SS1) and Andean Silver (ASL) have a combined market cap. of under $300mn. As for heavyweights South32 (S32) and BHP (BHP), silver is only a by-product from their other operations and not even disclosed as a separate figure in their revenue numbers.
Hence if we were wanting to take a bullish position towards silver we would use the Global X Physical Silver ETC (ETPMAG) which tracks the silver price in $A terms, alternatively one could use a US ETF for exposure to silver in its more traditional ($US) form. We think Silver will continue to be influenced by Gold, which we are bullish on.
