Question asked

Number of stocks in MM portfolios

Hi team, I see that you have a limit of 20 stocks in the Growth portfolio but I can't see any mention of how many are allowed in the income or emerging portfolios. Are they allowed more stocks? Also whilst many say a 20 stock portfolio seems to be reasonably standard, would you consider lifting this number if funds grew to a level where you would feel uncomfortable having large amounts of cash in each holding?

Answer

Hi Ray,

A great question in todays uncertain times. Our portfolios target ~20 holdings, through we can have a range to operate in.

Active Growth Portfolio: 15 – 25.
Active Income Portfolio: 15 – 25.
Emerging Companies Portfolio: 18 – 30.
International Equities: 15-25

The answer to the second part of your question is potentially, though we estimate that we can manage up to ~$1bn overall without having to do so. i.e. we have room to grow. We have a formal review planned that addresses this question if/when we reach $500m across the strategies.
