Afternoon Report Thursday 17 April 2014
The ASX200 had a strong day following on from overnight leads, closing +33 points, albeit it on low volumes.
Banks outperformed the market today with Westpac (WBC) closing +35c or +1.0% at $34.94 and ANZ +23c or +0.7% at $33.88.
Gold stocks were sold off as optimism returns to global markets, with Newcrest Mining (NCM) closing -0.8% at $10.24 and OceanaGold (OGC) -3.3% at $2.35.
