Afternoon Report Monday 7 July 2014
The ASX 200 followed Friday's lacklustre session in Europe, closing down 6 points.
The banking sector was mixed, with CBA closing down 0.7% at $81.36 and ANZ up 0.3% to $33.87.
Wotif.com (WTF) surprised investors, closing up 24.6% to $3.29 after announcing and recommending a takeover bid from Expedia worth $703M or $3.30/share.
Aristocrat Leisure (ALL) went into trading halt as it seeks to raise $375M in fresh capital and bolster debt facilities to fund the US$1.283B purchase of US-based Video Gaming Technologies.
Tonight will shed greater light to the direction of the market, as the US resumes trading from the July 4 long weekend.
