Afternoon Report Thursday 31 July 2014

**Today, subscribers received a live alert when I purchased an anticipated long term investment. **

The ASX 200 closed up only 10 points, with a typical choppy end of month session.

Commonwealth Bank (CBA) closed at an all-time high again, up 62c to $83.75, however, it was off from its intraday highs of $83.92.

Origin Energy (ORG) closed up 8c to $14.33 as investors were satisfied with its quarterly production report.

Lynas Corporation (LYC) shed 17.1%, closing at 17c, after releasing a disappointing quarterly production report. There is better risk/reward seen elsewhere.

Woodside Petroleum (WPL) closed down 36c to $42.52 after reports it is struggling to find shareholder support for its plan to buy back US$2.7B worth of shares from Royal Dutch Shell.
