Afternoon Report Thursday 25 September 2014

It was a quiet session on the ASX 200 today, closing only 6 points higher, despite today being September equities options expiry.

The banks closed mixed with Commonwealth Bank (CBA) closing 23c higher at $76.65 and Westpac (WBC) being the weakest link, closing down 26c at $32.21.

The major resources closed higher today, with RIO Tinto (RIO) finishing the day up 75c at $61.50.

One of our favoured companies with exposure to both the US economy and earnings, James Hardie (JHX) closed 19c higher at $12.20. See this morning’s report on stocks exposed to both the US economy and earnings that are of interest to Market Matters.
