Afternoon Report Tuesday 11 November 2014

The ASX 200 closed slightly lower, down 7 points at 5,517.

The materials sector continued its weakness, with BHP Billiton (BHP) ending the day down 1.5% at $34.17 and Fortescue Metals (FMG) down 3.4% at $3.02, after touching sub $3.00.

The Banking sector closed mixed, with Commonwealth Bank (CBA) the only stand out, having closed 0.5% higher at $83.00

A general good indicator with the health of the ASX200 is how well IPO stocks performed on debut, with 2 listed today:

APN Outdoor Group Limited (APO) ending up 3.9% at $2.65 from its listing price of $2.55

Tian Poh Resources Limited (TPO) ended unchanged from its listing price of $0.20.

Telstra Corporation (TLS) ended the day on its highest level in ~13 years, up 1% for the day at $5.79.
