Morning Report Friday 23 May 2014

This week saw a bid for Treasury Wines, who may be next?

With the cost of money remaining close to zero and confidence in world economies significantly higher than the nadir of the GFC, corporate activity is building very fast. In recent times we have seen a number of takeover bids, including Goodman Fielder (GFF), Treasury Wines (TWE), Aquila Resources (AQA), David Jones (DJS) and Aurora Oil & Gas (AUT). One thing that stands out is they have often been the poor performers that suitors are looking to buy cheaply. Rear view mirror investing is easy; as such, I have identified below a number of potential takeover targets. One or two in a portfolio can significantly aid performance if the "game comes to town".
