CRWD has outperformed PANW over the last few years, evolving into a comparable $US132bn business with revenue of $US4bn in FY25. Virtually all of its revenue comes from software subscriptions, especially endpoint security modules delivered via the Falcon platform. Revenue is set to grow by 20% in FY26, significantly outpacing its peer.
- Palo Alto: “Unified security platform” – one vendor for everything, network, cloud, identity, SOC, and automation – used by large enterprises and government.
- CrowdStrike: “Single lightweight agent” – one extremely efficient endpoint agent that customers can add modules to – used by fast-growing cloud-native companies and those heavily at risk of ransomware.
Palo Alto Networks is a broad, multi-layer security platform dominating network and cloud security, while CrowdStrike is the world’s strongest endpoint-security provider, known for AI-driven threat detection and lightweight agent-based protection – both have their place in a portfolio looking for exposure to cybersecurity.
- We expect CRWD will also continue to lead the fight against cybercrime over the coming years.
